Cricket Reports

When the rain finally stopped the School’s cricket season finally got underway with a competitive performance by the Year 8 team at Akeley Wood. After an opening partnership of 26 between Matt Wainwright (11) and Nikhil Khatri (6) the team progressed to 74-9 off 20 overs from Tom Goodwin (8), Ed Hickey (6), Shaun Oliver (6) and Theo Drury (6).

Akeley eventually overtook our score in the 17th over for the loss of 3 wickets. There was a fine opening spell from Michael Bailey at 5-1 and Shaun Oliver 8-1 but unfortunately we missed out on the win.

Our combined U12/U13 team took on Bishop Stopford School in Kettering and gave a fantastic bowling display. Akshat Chandel (3-0 – 6-3), Robert Bailey (4-0 – 17-2) and Michael Bailey (4-0 – 17-2) reduced Bishop to 94-7 after some strong batting by their District opener. Pitsford finally finished on 75 – 10 with Robert Bailey as top scorer with 14. The champagne moment, however, saw Bishop’s Number 9 caught by a diving Ben Lawson off the bowling of Akshat Chandel.
